Being from a school which taught me about Sri Ramakrishna and his disciple Swami Vivekananda it was hard those days to escape from bhajans and meditation classes. We never understood what meditation was for and we were forced to think about a flower every time, but for me it was simran or jothika or some actresses which is totally against the concept of meditation.Meditation was a torture. But,Osho gave me a different perspective of meditation,I personally feel nobody has ever put the theory of meditation so clearly.Thinking of Simran or Jothika isn't a crime, only thing it should either be this or that.Basically the beginning of meditation is holding on to one thought. My favorite thing about Osho is,he introduced me into the world of Zen.Zen isn't a religion, its a philosophy which says" You are also a Buddha". Zen stories are a real eye opener and its interesting to share.Just closing eyes, sitting erect and trying to think of one thing isn't meditation that's a torture to eyes, spine and mind respectively.Sitting comfortable, closing eyes and letting the thoughts flow is a real bliss, sometimes dirty thoughts flow too and I've experienced it too,but that is the right way to let go of it.If we can do this for three minutes a day then stress can't even have a whiff. But,meditation doesn't end with sitting with closed eyes, meditation can be done in every work we do and this has made me a content person in everything I do.One habit of mine, while wearing.I wear my right footwear first and then left, and while removing its left first and then right, doing this was quite frustrating initially and now I'm proud that I'm conscious about even silly things. Its been almost ten years I've washed my hands on plate after eating, because somewhere I read we must respect everything object that serves us and that is why I haven't kicked or even touched things with my leg when I can do it with my hands. There are so many interesting things attached with meditation in our country, kundalini, chakra etc and it is claimed/proved that people who have attained such things can do miracles. But being conscious of little things in our life is itself a miracle.I remember a story when the gods were discussing where to hide the "super power to achieve anything" one wise god suggested to hide it in the subconscious mind of humans saying that humans are fools that they are interested looking into others than looking into themselves.
Whenever I can't find something,I try to go back into my memory to know when was the last time i saw/used it and arranging my memory bits I find it easily and that is why I haven't literally lost anything except for people which is out if my control.Last month, while taking something out of my pocket,my clinic keys had fallen right into the gutter and I couldn't do anything about it and it was real tension that I can't access my important drawers and the next day morning while meditating I had this weird image of cement spatula(if U r a dentist U know what a cement spatula is) and Voila I reached clinic put the spatula through the lock turned it open,it was simple, and two days later when the corporation guys came, requested them to clear the gutter and found my keys.Even if meditation doesn't give us super power,it atleast gives us a clarity of thought.Try it!
